Indonesian authorities began providing social assistance to Jakarta residents
Indonesia's President Joko Widodo said the government had extended social care to 1.2 million families in Jakarta, Kompas reported. Social care distribution began this morning, first in Jakarta and then in other regions, the president said in a videoconference on April 20, 2020. The Head of State called for control over the distribution of social assistance to needy residents. The president had previously guaranteed that 3.7 million families in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi would receive social assistance from the government. This assistance will be provided for two months during the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the news agency, Indonesian President Joko Widodo called on all parties to ensure the safety of food supplies.
