Office for the Protection of the Constitution: Russia - the main threat of Latvia


The Office for the Protection of Satversme (Constitution, SAB) of Latvia published a report for 2019 in which Russian security services are called a threat to Latvia's statehood, while the activity of a friend of their intelligence, does not pose such a threat, writes the portal LSM. SAB accused the Kremlin of trying to increase its influence on the international stage, and reduce the attraction of other centers of power. Russia continued to actively study Latvia's defense capability, and monitor NATO activity in the region. Special attention in the SAB report is paid to the information policy of the Russian Federation on coverage of the events of the II World War. The Latvian Special Service accused the press service of the Russian Embassy in Latvia of unusual, non-compliant work with the media. SAB considers it unacceptable for the Embassy to publish on advertising rights in certain Russian media in Latvia, and to order materials of a certain nature to journalists of these publications. SAB goes on to say in a report on the Russian cyber threat.
