FBI says new threat from DPRK hackers

Several U.S. government agencies have issued warnings about the activity of new malicious software developed by hackers of their DPRK. This is reported by ZDNet. Warnings of new malware were issued by three agencies, the U.S. Cyber Command, the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The presented report describes the details of the detected viruses BISTROMATH, SLICKSHOES, CROWDEDFLOUNDER, HOTCROISSANT, ARTFULPIE and BUFFETLINE, as well as methods of counteraction. It is noted that the main channel of distribution of these viruses is phishing campaigns, i.e. mass distribution of electronic messages with links to infected sites and files. Responsibility for developing new viruses is attributed to the North Korean hacking group Hidden Cobra, also known as the Lazars Group. As previously reported by the news agency, in May 2019, the US government accused Hidden Cobra of creating the ELECTRICFISH virus, which is used to intercept the network traffic of infected devices.
