Trump between Salman and Khamenei - Stanisław Tarasov
Reports that the United States has begun to withdraw Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems from Saudi Arabia, as well as considering reducing its military presence in Saudi Arabia, have caused a stir among the expert community. Because the U.S. military was previously sent to the region after a series of drone attacks on two Saudi Aramco refineries. This incident, which took place on 14 September 2019, triggered Riyadh's reduction of oil production by more than half and a jump in commodity prices. Followers of Yemen's Houthi movement, Ansar Alla, claimed responsibility for the attack. But the so-called Arab coalition, the United States, and a number of European countries put the blame on Tehran at the time. If this logic is followed, according to The Wall Street Journal, the decline in U.S. military presence in Saudi Arabia and possibly in the Persian Gulf is due to Washington's reassessment of the Iranian threat against Riyadh.
