Countries G5 the Sahel region and France will summarize the fight against jihadists in Nouakchott (Mauritania) six months after they decided to intensify joint efforts to restore lost ground in the region, Le Figaro reports. It is known that heads of states of G5 Sahel (Mauritania, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Chad), the president of France Emmanuel Macron and representatives of the international organizations (African Union, the UN, the European Union) will hold negotiations in Nouakchott on June 30, 2020. The Heads of Government of Germany, Spain and Italy are expected to join the meeting by videoconference. Over the past six months, France has increased the number of its soldiers in the region from 500 to 5,100. France and its partners intensified the offensive, declaring the neutralization of hundreds of militants. As previously reported by the news agency, the French president will go to the capital of Mauritania, Nouakchott, on June 30, 2020 to participate in the summit G5 the Sahel.
