Deputy Minister of Health worsens forecast of epidemic development in Ukraine

The chief sanitary doctor, Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko said that the COVID-19 epidemic in the country is developing according to the so-called yellow scenario, according to which up to four thousand fatal cases and 400 thousand infections can be recorded in the country. He stated this on August 1 during a briefing, the Interfax-Ukraine news agency reported. Lyashko recalled that a month ago, for the first time, forecasts were published about the development of the epidemiological situation in the country and then Ukraine was moving according to the so-called yellow-green scenario. Now our dynamics clearly reflect the yellow scenario, and, unfortunately, we focus on 4 thousand fatal cases and about 400 thousand infections that may be in our country, Lyashko said, adding that quarantine measures are the only way that the spread of the virus currently restrains. See also: In Ukraine, the number of detected cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection exceeded 71 thousand. Recall that 1,172 new cases of coronavirus infection were recorded in Ukraine per day. The total number of detected infections was 71,056. During the entire period of the epidemic in Ukraine, 1,709 people died.
